2010 archive

In the Fall of 2010, Dr. Schumaker’s Sports Data Mining book was published. This book provides an overview of current state-of-the-art practices in data acquisition, mining, knowledge extraction and visualization techniques that are being implemented by sports enthusiasts and professional sports organizations alike.

In 2010, Dr. Schumaker wrote “Sports Knowledge Management and Data Mining” in Annual Review of Information Science and Technology Volume 44 (Editor: Blaise Cronin). This chapter illustrates the many techniques that sports organizations can use to forecast outcomes, divine information and makes sense of the myriad of sporting data available.
